Bike MS

Bike MS: Breakaway to the Beach is a two-day cycling event organized by the Greater Carolinas Chapter of the National MS Society. This ride is one of longest standing non-profit events of its kind in the Carolinas with an average of 1,500 cyclists, 400 volunteers and countless supporters and spectators participating each year. The ride raises funds to support people living with multiple sclerosis in North and South Carolina and throughout the United States.

The Next Generation:

Leading The Movement to create a world free of MS.

In 2009, the idea to get young people engaged within the MS Society's Greater Carolinas Chapter came alive when a board of directors was formed and began to create the structure for what has now become the MS Movers & Shakers, a young professionals group for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society.

We are young professionals, ages 21-40, who want to actively get involved in the fight against Multiple Sclerosis. The MS Movers & Shakers are governed by a board whose role is to set goals, approve events, and oversee overall mission of the group. We believe the best way to ensure a long-term, sustainable commitment to the ongoing fight against MS is to train leaders in each generation who are willing to individually take up the cause and fight for the awareness, education, fundraising, advocacy, and other efforts needed to one day find the cure.

You're not alone

The number one thing we strive to communicate to young professionals affected by MS is – You’re Not Alone. Many people choose to become involved with the MS Movers & Shakers because they or a loved one are affected by MS, so by attending group activities, you will make friends who are willing to share their own stories of struggle, triumph and perseverance.

We recognize that it may be fearsome or intimidating for young professionals who are newly diagnosed (or have loved ones who have been recently diagnosed) to attend MS Society events and interact with wonderful people who are facing the challenges of advanced/progressive MS. When you get involved with the MS Movers & Shakers group, you will meet vibrant and energetic young professionals who can empathize and share stories about their own struggles with MS.

We need your help.
